Situs-situs Dari Gotham City

Situs yang beralamat ibelieveinharveydent.com adalah situs pribadi milik ahli hukum Harvey Dent, yang sedang berkampanye menjadi Jaksa Wilayah. Di situ terpampang foto Harvey Dent, yang terlihat mirip aktor Aaron Eckhart. Well, itu memang foto Aaron Eckhart, yang menjadi Harvey Dent dalam film Batman terbaru yang akan dirilis pada 18 Juli nanti. Jika kita familiar dengan kisah Batman, Harvey Dent adalah jaksa wilayah yang kemudian menjadi salah satu musuh besar Batman, si Two Face (lihat film Batman Forever). Dalam film Batman kali ini, musuh utama Batman adalah Joker, yang diperankan oleh mendiang Heath Ledger (Brokeback Mountain, 10 Things I Hate About You, Brothers Grimm). Penampilan Ledger dalam film ini akan penuh kenangan karena ia meninggal tidak lama setelah pengambilan gambar film ini selesai. Pihak berwajib menduga Ledger meninggal karena overdosis.

The Dark Knight adalah film Batman pertama yang pada judulnya tidak mencantumkan kata 'Batman'. Dan inilah kali pertama sebuah film menggunakan strategi viral marketing dengan membuat 34 website, plus 1 website utama yang beralamat di thedarkknight.warnerbros.com (sebagai perbandingan, lihat tulisan saya mengenai killwithmedotcom). Ada situs milik kantor berita Gotham (Gotham Cable News), ada situs milik perusahaan taksi Gotham (gothamcab.com), situs sebuah hotel di Gotham (Gotham Intercontinental Hotel), situs kepolisian, situs bank, surat kabar, jasa keamanan, biro wisata, bahkan situs resep masakan. Warner Bros seolah-olah ingin memberikan kesan yang dalam bahwa Gotham City itu benar-benar ada. Tentu saja hal ini menjadi suatu hal yang luar biasa sekaligus unik, tidak saja di dunia film, juga di dunia internet.
